i was just asked recently to write or to talk about how i organize our little mother-daughter trips. so i’ll talk a bit about how it all started and how we girls do it.and yes, we just do it, i guess.no big planning or organization.just a little bit of preperation before.but thats about it.its easy in my case i guess, ’cause i have two 3 year olds now.its different if you have kids different ages, including a baby i’m sure. but still. you can manage to get out and go on trips.those experiences and memories you create there are so precious for you as a mother and for your kids and you’ll see they will ask you to go on another little trip very very soon….its a huge adventure for them.and don’t forget: little trips don’t need to be far away.maybe its a little trip to a park nearby where you can walk to.you make it into a little trip, a special thing 😉
a while ago, like last fall, i started to use mondays, where we usually had hard times to overcome the monday-blues, as our days, where we do a little trip or excursion.most of our weekends are filled with lots of familyadventures and highlights.papa is home and we do fun stuff. monday morning the girls had the hardest time to say good bye to their papa when he left for work. sometimes they were even crying. so i thought, maybe it helps them AND me to overcome the mondayblues by starting the new week with another nice little trip to a place the girls can choose.most of the time they even agreed on one destination. sometimes we start in the morning and are back after lunch or at lunchtime.sometimes we go somewhere for the afternoons.and then there’s days, nice sunny days, where we leave in the morning and come back in the evening when its dark outside. just like this monday.the weather promised to be great. the weather, thats one thing i always check the day before.i usually ask them sunday night before bedtime where we wanna go and then i check on the weather.but because this monday was supposed to be sunny and sunny and again sunny, any direction or destination would have been fine.one girl wanted to go with the cable car.she looooves chair lifts or cable cars. the other girl wasn’t so sure about it and talked about the chiemsee lake all the time.so i thought this time, there’s no need to agree on only one direction when we have time and the weather is brilliant plus the weatherforecast for the rest of the week looked pretty bad. i then asked both of them if they are fine with the other sister’s choice and if we should do both then. they were more than happy. so on monday morning i checked the weatherforecast for our trip to the mountain. i knew there’s still a bit of snow and of course lower temperatures up there compared to the lake.that meant i had to dress them warm and again go with layered clothing (woolunderwear, woolpants, hoodies and linensuits on top.not to forget about hats and scarfs).
i packed my backpack with something to drink, trailmix, sandwiches(brotzeit), apples and some left over cinnamon rolls from sunday.i always have some childrens plaster/patches with me for the big or tiny accidents of my adventurer. i always take extra underwear and pants for the girls in case of any accidents….you know what i mean.i make sure my cellphone is charged in case i have to call someone.but thats about it.i encourage you to not think about too many disasters.stay flexible and spontaneous and try it out.just go.have some cash with you, a cellphone, your bag or backpack with some food and changing clothes for your littles and off you can go.if you forgot something, don’t worry.the best and funny and remarkable things emerge and rise out of those situations.you become creative and the coolest mama to your kids by inventing alternatives.or you find out, that you or your kids didn’t even need all that.i remember when i forgot to pack extra clothes and one of my girls had a little accident.she was then wearing her aunts tights as pants or i would have given her my socks.and last but not least, the more little trips you’re doing the better you get with knowing what you need.so its all a big field of learning for us.
here’s some more images from our mother-daughter trip on monday.
it first led us up the kampenwand with the cable car.the girls had lots of fun there.maybe the last time with snow.i don’t know.the weather has been crazy this winter.they also enjoyed one big rock.they climbed and played around it for half an hour while i was sitting close to them enjoying the beautiful view. their highlight was the cable car though.they loved to sit in their and to just look outside.telling me about all the pinecones they saw on the big trees, the big rocks.yes, they even liked to get that whole thing to swing, which i had to stop then ’cause i felt a bit dizzy…also maybe because i took too many photos 😉
after our snowy mountain experience we drove to one of our favourite spots at the chiemsee lake.one we’ve been at christmas eve as a family.its pretty quiet there and not so many people are around there.the girls were enjoying the labyrinth of reeds and the water.its a natural reserve, so lots of animals and ducks were around there to watch and to listen to.it was a perfect place for them to freely and wildly run around.
