this week the girls somehow rediscovered their norwegian backpacks they got from us in the beginning of our scandinavia vacation. on their backpacks they have little scandinavian (originally saami) ‘kuksa’s’/’kåsa’ they collected berries with or used to collect whatever they found during our times in the woods and on hikes. they started playing with them and wearing them in the house and couldn’t wait to wear them outside on our walks. they asked to go hiking with them. so off we were. they have been wearing them all week long.
during this one long afternoonwalk in the woods – they called it hike- it was really special for me to watch them act and reliving our time in scandinavia. they were talking about certain hikes and times we had up there. they were repeating certain actions like pretending to get water with their kuksa’s and drinking out of them during our hike. they pretended to look for and collect berries. they then collected little pinecones and other stuff in them. also interesting to watch for me was their feeling of togetherness that those memories must have caused, ’cause they were walking hand in hand for a looong time.
after our little exploration walk in the woods i really thought how crazy and phenomenal their little brains work. how much they can remember and then go back to and work/back track with it. nothing new, i know, still so touching and precious for a mothers heart. so lets go and make/provide them with more memories.
