today, at the first advent, a little note was hanging on the girls advent calendar which said crafting(basteln).so we used that slow lazy sunday afternoon of the first advent to do a little crafting session with the girls.a little family project.spending some time together in action.

last year i made some wrapping paper with the girls using pine needles and it was so much fun, so i thought this year we could just do the same.but instead of natural wrapping paper i used left over paper from parcels and packages which were sent to us.and to the pine needles we added a cone as well.we used art acrylic colour(titanium white) from boesner, but i’m sure you can use whatever colour you find.the one we used was easy to remove from their clothes, their hands, the wooden table and the woodenfloor – pretty important if you’re doing this with toddlers.

and then off they went.starting with slow movements and bits.ending with more or better looooots of colour.for us it was interesting to see how different their way is of doing art. just like their personalities.

when m.started to get really into it with her little hands, i slowly ended the session, because her paper was so thin by then, that i wanted to save it.so we could hang it up later on.

last but not least and very important for them was the ‘washing and brushing my hands all by myself procedure’.

i’m very happy and proud of their little winter christmas art works who are now decorating our wall.it was so worth and fun seeing them work and seeing their individual and different way to paint.its definatly worth the mess and colour you have to take care of after.

It looks like you all had a wonderful time!! I need to try this out with my little ladies. We are expecting rain most of the week, so we might have to pull on our rain boots and head into our woods to collect some branches and pinecones, but that will just be part of the fun of it!
