it was the weekend and the weather forecast looked excellent up here. for us it means we have to be out there and up there.in the mountains.we’re living in the beautiful chiemgau area (bavarian alps) now for excactly a year and there’s just so much to discover. there’s so many alps/mountainhuts, mountain lakes, canyon’s,…
today we hiked up to the ‘taubensee’, a little mountainlake that shimmers turquoise blue in the summer and that looks muddy and brownish in the fall.
from where we parked, it took us almost two hours to hike up there.the hiking paths lead you through alpine meadows, forests and along another mountainhut.there’s a little via ferrata called ‘kroatensteig’ that requires a bit of a head for heights.all in all the hike is wonderful and very popular for families with younger kids.
we took the girls in our backpack carriers (orsprey) where they mostly sat during the hike. of cours ethere were passages where they wanted to hike by themselfes or look for intersting roots and woodensticks, like they always do.today they loved to use our hiking sticks and i was honestly glad, when they hiked a bit of it themselfes, ’cause the weight of them on my back gets heavier and heavier each time.
another 10 minutes from the lake is a farmed/managed alp/mountainhut, where you can have a wonderful view at the higher snowwhite austrian alps.today it was packed, ’cause they had a typical bavarian fall festivity up there with schuhplattler e.g., so we didn’t go.
