we have a lot of foggy autumn days here in the mountains. nothing special about that. but on that monday, when my girls requested to go up that mountain, where a little church is standing and their favourite swing, it was a special – kind of magical – foggy day. the girls were so excited and happy about our little trip that my heart was filled and i didn’t even mind not having a nice panoramic view from the top. no, the fog almost swallowed us. we were the only ones up there. that honestly scarred me a bit, being alone up there with the girls. but they are great hikers by now and carful in nature.
we have been up there with them several times, but that day i was surprised by their motivation to walk and walk and walk. a. asked me several times to get carried by me, but as soon as she saw her sister exploring and discovering something new on the way, she asked to get down and join her……oh the woods and nature itself have the power to stir up ciriousity in our children. thats one reason to get out there, no matter what the weather looks like. dressed in the right clothes and off they are. proudly presenting us their finds and treasures they discover, inviting us in their world and thoughts about the woods and what and who might live in those holes in the ground. enough said, i hope the photos whisper to you. about the beauty and mystery of the woods and our nature.
